Barcelona progressed to the semi-finals of
the Copa del Rey 4-3 on aggregate over Real
Madrid after a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Camp
Nou on Wednesday night. Manager Pep
Guardiola said he believed the better side had
won over the two-legs but was also full of
praise for Madrid after they threatened a
sensational second-half comeback with two
goals in four minutes through Cristiano
Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. “The only
important thing is we played a good tie, just
as much in the first game as the second. I
would have liked it if we had conceded
fewer goals and fewer chances, but we are
playing against Real Madrid and it takes a lot
to beat them.” However it wasn’t all
good news for Barca as both Andres Iniesta
and Alexis Sanchez had to be substituted due
to muscle injuries, Iniesta is expected to miss
the next three weeks, whilst Sanchez is a
doubt for Saturday’s trip to Villarreal.
